Golf the Best Courses in Costa del Sol’s Torremolinos

Torremolinos is a coastal town situated in the Malaga region of Spain’s Costa del Sol area. This tourist town has several golf courses that are not to be missed, as well as several beachside resorts. If you are planning your golf holidays to the Costa del Sol Torremolinos is a great city to base your trip from, as it has all of the amenities you need for a comfortable vacation. Local airport transfers are available from a host of reputable companies.

Parador del Golf

The first course to be built in Torremolinos was the Parador del Golf. This course sits right on the beach and is just five minutes from the Malaga airport. It was built in 1929, and has everything you would expect from a mature course.

Because the Parador course was built before the Costa del Sol was one of the most popular golf holiday destinations in the world, it is longer than many of the courses in the area. It features a full 18 holes as well as a third nine that is perfect for those with only a short period of time to play. The new nine holes are ideal for junior players, making Parador an ideal destination for those traveling with their families.

Guadalhorce Club de Golf

While not technically in Torremolinos, Guadalhorce Club de Golf is near enough to be played by those basing their trip in this popular city. This Kosti Kuronen designed course features 18 holes rated at par 72. It is a short 5860 yards from the longest tees, and is located just minutes from the airport, so guests could literally play a round on the way to their Torremolinos hotel.

The course is divided into two distinct halves. The first half looks like a course out of an English park, with flat fairways and few hazards. This belies the challenge of the second half, with its elevated greens and numerous hazards. It is a fun course to play, offering surprises around every corner.

Lauro Golf

Lauro Golf is another that is near the coastal town. This residential golf course has three nines that can be combined however the golfer desires to make a complete 18-hole game. Regardless of the combination, the full 18-hole game is rated at par 72. The natural surroundings dictated the course’s design, so many twists, turns, and elevations are found on the course.

The beautiful course is the work of the late Folco Nardi, who focused on creating a course that was not difficult, but still required some technical play to perfect. As nature has been embraced around every corner, it is not uncommon for golfers to come face to face with natural wildlife.

The course features fourteen lakes, adding challenge to the course along with natural beauty. The clubhouse at Lauro is housed in an ancient Andalusian building, making it both luxurious and historic. It houses a restaurant, pro shop, and changing rooms, and outdoor facilities include a swimming pool and tennis courts, making this a course where golfers can spend a restful day while they enjoy their favorite game.
